Turmeric + PEA
why this orthopedic surgeon takes it every day
why this orthopedic surgeon takes it every day
Hi, Dr. Meredith Warner here:
For those that don’t know me, I’m an Air Force Veteran and have a private Orthopedic Surgery practice in Baton Rouge, LA.
For as long as I can remember, I have been telling my patients about the many health benefits of turmeric or curcumin & PEA. I’m so happy I can share it now with those outside my clinic doors.
Curcumin is the main active ingredient in turmeric and is largely responsible for its health benefits. Curcumin has powerful anti-inflammatory effects – and is a powerful natural antioxidant.
You likely aren’t going to get enough curcumin to make a difference just from using turmeric in your cooking. The curcumin content in turmeric isn’t that high – it’s around 3% by weight.
PEA is a compound naturally produced by your body in response to pain and inflammation. When taken as a supplement, PEA helps soothe + repair frayed and damaged nerve endings near joints inflicted with arthritis.
This unique formulation contains 300mg of anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving support of PEA.
I decided to create my own Joint Health Multi to ensure more people have access to highly effective anti-inflammatories. For example, I recommend 1000mg of turmeric root extract – must contain 95% curcuminoids.
How Turmeric Soothes Arthritis Pain
by relieving inflammation
by relieving inflammation
Chronic inflammation is the root cause of many health problems, like arthritis.
This Joint Health Multi is packed with naturally anti-inflammatory ingredients like turmeric, PEA, ginger, and piperine to soothe the damaging effects of inflammation associated with arthritis. It’s important to supplement early, because chronic, unchecked inflammation can deteriorate joints over time – permanently damaging your mobility.
This multi helps soothe pain in arthritis joints, but each ingredient adds and compounds powerful anti-inflammatory benefits to attack the root cause of worsening arthritis. Turmeric especially is powerfully anti-inflammatory, which makes it an excellent addition to your arthritis prevention and management routine.
The active ingredients in turmeric block the NF-kB molecule that triggers inflammation in the nuclei of your cells. NF-kB (nuclear factor-kappa beta) is a protein that controls DNA transcription as it relates to cytokine production and cell survival.
In one study with people suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, curcumin was more effective than an anti-inflammatory drug in relieving pain and inflammation.
When fighting chronic inflammation, it’s important to supplement early, as unchecked inflammation can lead to a host of inflammatory diseases, such as arthritis, heart disease, diabetes, and even certain cancers.
Turmeric, PEA & Ginger:
naturally anti-inflammatory + brain health + heart health
naturally anti-inflammatory + brain health + heart health
Turmeric is packed with beneficial compounds called curcuminoids. The primary one, curcumin, has been shown to boost brain-derived neurotrophic factor and is linked to enhanced brain function – and a lower risk of brain diseases due to neuroinflammation and/or neurodegeneration.
But that isn’t the only benefit of this powerful natural supplement!
Turmeric has also been studied from to its ability to improve the health of your blood vessels.
The lining of your blood vessels is called “endothelium.” It’s well known that a dysfunction in your endothelium is a major cause of heart disease. The lining of your blood vessels is what regulates your blood pressure, blood clotting, and more.
Curcumin is also highly antioxidant, which can reduce inflammation and oxidative stress in the body. These are both factors that play a role in heart disease.
So not only is turmeric a great option for naturally relieving arthritis pain, it has benefits for brain health, heart health, and oxidative health!
Turmeric + PEA + Ginger
the science behind my formula
the science behind my formula
My Joint Health Multi contains 4 simple ingredients.
When I formulated this multi, I not only wanted to include the natural supplements I recommend most often to my patients suffering from arthritis. I also wanted to create a proprietary blend of ingredients that work together for maximum absorption + effectiveness.
Turmeric: The active ingredients (curcuminoids) in this spice make it a potent anti-inflammatory. These ingredients block inflammatory cytokines and enzymes, including those commonly targeted by NSAIDs.
Piperine: This is a natural extract sourced in black pepper, helps your body absorb curcumin (turmeric’s active ingredient) more effectively. This ingredient enhances the benefits of all other ingredients in this surgeon-designed multivitamin.
Ginger: Ginger has also been proven effective in reducing inflammation and reducing pain associated with osteoarthritis. It also is great for promoting gut health. Most anti-inflammatory medications disrupt your gut biome. In fact, a single dose of Ibuprofen can kill your gut biome, forcing your body to rebuild it from scratch.
PEA: PEA (palmitoylethanolamide) is a compound naturally produced by your body in response to pain and inflammation. When taken as a supplement, PEA helps soothe + repair frayed and damaged nerve endings near joints inflicted with arthritis with its powerful anti-inflammatory benefits. This unique formulation contains 300mg of anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving PEA.
I always recommend a turmeric supplement for my arthritis patients, since it also helps with other “co-morbidities-” other diseases associated with chronic inflammation. Things like heart disease, diabetes, and more are linked to chronic inflammation, and turmeric is fantastic at reducing inflammation without the harmful side effects of pharmaceutical anti-inflammatories.
Turmeric, ginger, piperine, and PEA is an optimal combination for general baseline control of the inflammatory pain associated with arthritis, helps stabilize cartilage health, and can help keep arthritis from progressing.
Oxidative Stress
what it is + how it impacts your health
what it is + how it impacts your health
Oxidative stress occurs when your body has difficulty breaking down free radicals. For example, when you breathe in, oxygen molecules are broken down. When unpaired electrons, the building blocks of molecules, are released during this process, they can wreak havoc on the body. Your body naturally releases antioxidants to capture these electrons, but a variety of factors can impact your body’s ability to create them.
Lifestyle choices, environmental factors such as pollution, and more can impact this process, causing oxidative stress.
Read More: What Is Oxidative Stress?
Oxidative stress in the brain and nervous system leads to pain, decreased cognition and a decline of motor abilities over time. The body has a certain capacity to combat oxidative stress, but this decreases with age along with the lifestyle factors mentioned above.
Worse still, oxidative stress generally increases as we age. Therefore, anything that helps us to fight oxidative stress should be explored and considered in my opinion.
Curcumin is a powerful antioxidant that assists your body in neutralizing free radicals. In addition, it also boosts your body’s production of its own antioxidants. By taking a turmeric supplement with a high curcuminoid concentration, you help your body ward off the ravages of oxidative stress effectively, which promotes better overall wellness as you age.
“My goal is to help people age better, age fitter, and enjoy their old age. We’re all going to get old. You can’t stop that.”

How to get results with natural medicine
1. Have a mindset of wellness over time: Don’t Expect It To Feel Like A Synthetic Drug. The timeline for better health with natural medicine is longer than with synthetic pharmaceuticals.
2. Addressing Root Cause: Natural remedies attempt to address the root causes, or the cellular beginnings of a given problem, pain, or inflammation. Naturally, this will take a bit longer and be less noticeable initially. But the results are wonderful.
3. Few Known Side Effects: My Well Theory products are formulated with higher doses of plant-based ingredients to deliver steady results over time – without the harmful side effects found in traditional pharmaceutical applications.
4. Get Blood Work Done: There are inflammatory markers you can check to determine your progress.
5. I Take Everything We Make: I wholeheartedly believe in the power of natural supplements.
