Natural Supplements For Plantar Fasciitis Pain

Natural Supplements For Plantar Fasciitis Pain

More and more people who suffer from plantar fasciitis are seeking natural methods to manage their pain. Here is a list of supplements Dr. Meredith Warner and many other physicians will often recommend to their patients.

Palmitoylethanolamide (PEA)

PEA is a natural anti-inflammatory that is naturally produced inside the human body to regulate pain and inflammation within the endocannabinoid system. PEA is a natural fatty acid molecule produced in response to injury. Studies have found that PEA has anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and neuroprotective benefits. PEA is a great alternative to NSAIDs as it does not have any known side effects unlike those seen in NSAIDs.

CBD

CBD much like PEA acts in the same manner inside of the body’s endocannabinoid system to regulate pain and inflammation. More and more medical professionals are beginning to recommend CBD to their patients as an alternative to traditional over-the-counter NSAIDs and prescription pain killers including opioids like oxycodone, hydrocodone, etc.

Calcium

Daily intake of calcium can help prevent heel spurs from developing. Heel spurs are often seen in association with plantar fasciitis when calcium deposits form on the area of the heel bone that attaches to the plantar fascia. Heel spurs often develop due to microtears and inflammation caused by overuse and stress on the plantar fascia.

Magnesium

Magnesium is required to be taken in conjunction with calcium to assist in proper absorption.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C can significantly reduce the symptoms of plantar fasciitis by reducing inflammatory responses by lowering the amounts of C-reactive proteins. C-reactive proteins are produced in the liver and released into the bloodstream to respond to inflammation.

Turmeric

Turmeric and its active compound curcumin are natural anti-inflammatories that have been used for centuries in western herbal medicine. Modern studies have shown turmeric is comparable to over-the-counter pain killers and turmeric could help with nerve pain as well.
