Supplement Guide: Why This Surgeon Recommends Berberine

berberine:

why this orthopedic surgeon recommends adding it to your routine

Hi, Dr. Meredith Warner here:

If this is your first time visiting Well Theory – welcome.

I’m an Air Force Veteran, Orthopedic Surgeon, and believer in the body’s natural ability to heal itself.

For years, I’ve helped patients at my private practice in Baton Rouge, Louisiana find relief with root-cause medicine, systematically avoiding invasive surgeries and reducing the impact aging has on the body.

I get excited about each new Well Theory product because that means I’m able to help patients beyond my clinic doors work to address root causes and find relief from their symptoms.

I’ve added Berberine to the Well Theory line-up because it’s been shown to reduce sugar levels in the body, assist with weight control, combat aging at the cellular level and help you achieve balanced energy levels.

It rivals Metformin in its ability to increase insulin sensitivity while improving all five markers of metabolic health.

“A lot of work is being done looking at Berberine as a weight loss supplement…it works better with a good circadian rhythm, a better diet and a little bit of exercise. But guess what? Every single drug on the market for weight loss, the labeling always says, ‘with a good diet and exercise’.”

Dr. Meredith Warner, Orthopedic Surgeon

Berberine is not readily available in typical foods you’d find at the grocery store – which is why I developed this single-ingredient supplement. I want all my patients, and you to experience the awesome, rejuvenating power of Berberine.

berberine:

combat aging + weight loss + improve metabolic health

It’s my goal to help my patients, and now you, age optimally. Berberine can help us achieve that in a number of ways.

Berberine activates AMPK production in the cell. AMPK is the key to achieving energy homeostasis at the cellular level, which means increased glucose to energy conversion, lowering blood glucose levels and triglyceride production. These benefits of Berberine rival that of the diabetic drug, Metformin.

As you age, you produce less insulin after meals, making blood sugar levels difficult to regulate and reducing the amount of glucose that reaches muscles and tissues. This makes Berberine vital for the aging process, because it can help you maintain muscle mass and energy levels while reducing inflammation and oxidative stress.

Berberine can also improve your overall metabolic health, and even help you lose weight.

Typically when assessing a patient’s metabolic health, I’ll look at five markers: blood sugar levels, triglycerides, HDL cholesterol, blood pressure and waist circumference. When I see improvement in a patient’s metabolic health, I know they’re taking the right steps to increase their longevity and quality of life.

“Getting older is a natural part of life, but aging optimally is a choice..”

BERBERINE AND METFORMIN

how a supplement rivals prescription drugs

Studies show that Berberine can be as effective as diabetic drug, Metformin.

Metformin works by reducing blood sugar levels and improving the body’s insulin response. Its benefits reach beyond improved insulin sensibility though, it’s also been linked to improved cardiovascular health. This makes it especially helpful for other conditions, like prediabetes, gestational diabetes, polycystic ovary syndrome and weight gain from other prescription drugs.

However, Metformin must be prescribed, and the list of qualifying conditions doesn’t typically include general health and longevity.

That’s why to me, studies showing that Berberine provides near identical results is very, very exciting.

BERBERINE AND MY LONGEVITY SERIES

where berberine fits into your longevity

“My goal is to help people age better, age fitter, and enjoy their old age. We’re all going to get old. You can’t stop that.”

Meredith Warner, MD

One of my biggest goals in life is helping my patients, and you, achieve long and fulfilling lives. This means you continue to be functional and doing what you love as the years go by.

I believe Berberine is a key component to that, which is why I’ve made it part of the Well Theory Longevity Series.

Longevity isn’t about just staying alive – it’s about living.

Which is why Berberine, alongside Resveratrol and NMN, are an important part of anyone’s routine.

The benefits of increased insulin sensitivity and improved metabolic health are vast, but in summary – you can improve your mood, memory and brain function, along with preventing chronic diseases like diabetes, heart disease and stroke.

These chronic diseases are often associated with aging, but I believe it’s time to change that narrative. You can age optimally by reducing your risk of disease, everyday moving forward.
